Carrie Works Shonesy told the story that NANCY ARNOLD and her brothers were the only family that came to America. Many years later, they received word that they had been left a considerable estate from their parents (apparently still in England.) They hired a lawyer to go to New York to claim their inheritance for them. On his return, the lawyer told they there had been a mistake -- that no large fortune (estate) was left to them. However, very soon, the lawyer suddenly came up with a large amount of money -- without an apparent source. He and his wife went on a trip to Europe and he spent huge amounts of money in the area where he lived. The family believed (but had no proof) that the lawyer kept the large amount of money for himself -- and lied to NANCY ARNOLD and her brothers about it. ---------- No. 41 TAYLOR to Washington Deed Book E. pg 399 Logan Co., KY This Indenture made this 11th day of January 1817 between ARTHUR TAYLOR of the Mississippi Territory of the one part & John Washington of the County of Logan & state of Kentucky of the other part witnessed that the said ARTHUR TAYLOR hath bargained & sold & by them doth bargain & sell unto the said John Washington a certain tract or parcel of land containing by survey & patent two hundred acres the patent to ARTHUR TAYLOR and bearing date December 26th 1814 and bounded as follows. Beginning on a white oak standing a little East of the spring at shaffers old Town yard and west of where Colo Richard Dollar tably lived in Logan Co. running thru N. 35 W 180 poles to a hickory and post oak thence S. 55 W 180 poles to 2 past thence S 35 E 180 poles to a post oak there N 55 e 180 poles to the beginning with its appurtenances. To have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances to the said John Washington his heirs or assigns forever & the aforesaid ARTHUR TAYLOR date for himself his executors or administrators covenant to & with the aforesaid John Washington his heirs executors Administrators or assign by these to warrant & forever defend the aforesaid tract or parcel of land against himself & his heirs & of sign & against the claims of all other person whatever.In witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 11th day of January 1817.
