Isaac Baker & Martha "Patsy"
|
It was known that Martha Baker Dozier's parents were both born in South Carolina. Living next to Martha and her husband Marcus in the 1850 Cass County, Georgia, Census was Isaac Baker and his wife Martha "Patsy", both were born in South Carolina. Martha and Marcus named their first son Isaac, so it is believed that he was her father. On the 1830 DeKalb County, Georgia, Census it appears Isaac had his 2 brothers living with him - they were too old to be his children and they remained near him through 1850 & also named children Isaac. It is believed that his parents were deceased. It is possible a James Baker, Jr., living next to Isaac in 1830 could have been a brother, thus meaning their father was James Baker, Sr. By 1860 Marcus and Martha Dozier had moved to Cherokee County, Alabama. Isaac Baker & family were there also. It appears from that census that perhaps "Patsy" was a nick name for Martha.
