Alexander Hanna & Mary ?Warren
|
I believe it is highly likely that Alexander Hanna's wife was Mary Warren, daughter of Thomas Warren and his 2nd wife Jane (?Harris or Duley). According to Probate Proceedings https://www.ancestry.com/wiki/index.php?title=Probate "bondsmen were usually relatives or family friends until recently, when bonding companies replaced personal sureties. If the wife is executrix, the bondsmen will usually be her relatives...Bondsmen are usually relatives who are willing to stand the risks and who have some some leverage over the persons they guarantee. Where her maiden surname is unknown, look carefully at the names of the bondsmen." The original site on probate has been redirected to http://tinyurl.com/probate-for-genealogy. According to https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/next_of_kin "A person’s next of kin is their closest living blood relative, including spouses and adopted family members." In the case of Alexander Hanna's estate his wife was the executrix, and the bondsmen (sureties) and next of kin were Humphrey Warren, his brother Thomas Warren, their brother Barton Warren, and their brother-in-law George Scoggins who married their sister Elizabeth Warren. The Warrens listed in this document were the children of Thomas Warren and his second wife Jane. Thomas Warren wrote his will 3 years before he died - the unborn child mentioned in his will was son Humphrey Warren and there was sufficient time during those 3 years for another child to be born or for at least the wife to be pregnant again before Thomas Warren died. The names of the 4 under age children in the Inventory of ALEXANDER HANNA have not been established, but one possibility is John Hannon/Hannan who named a son Walter Warren Hannon and who also had ties to the Scroggins family. This John's son John named a daughter Mary Warren Hannon so the name Warren was carried down through my line for some reason. ---------- Abstracts of Inventory - Lib. 12-14 1716-1729 Charles County, Maryland John Smoote - April 1728 - Lib 13 - Folio 352…ALEXANDER HANNAY… ------- Administration Accounts of Prerogative Court Lib. 6-10, 1724-1731 Edward Turvy account - May 1, 1729 - payments to …ALEXANDER HANNAY… Second inventory for John Smoot - November 17, 1729 - payments to …ALEXANDER HANNAY… --------- 1733 Charles Co., MD tax list...
