Benjamin Roebuck & Mary G. Willis

 

BENJAMIN ROEBUCK, II and his wife MARY G. WILLIS are on the record as constitutional members of the Unity Baptist Church, Roebuck, South Carolina, when it was organized in 1802. They were dismissed by letter in 1842 when they moved from South Carolina to Mississippi.

MARY G. WILLIS had a brother, Edward Willis, who married Catherine Roebuck, a sister to her husband BENJAMIN ROEBUCK, II.

BENJAMIN and MARY had a daughter, Martha Roebuck, who was known to be bald-headed and bearded.

BENJAMIN ROEBUCK, II, is buried in the William Andrew Jackson Steele family plot at the Hopewell Primitive Baptist Cemetery a few miles from Sarepta, Mississippi.

John Mason                             Carolina and District of Spartanburgh for

and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars to me in hand paid by John Mason of the District and State aforesaid The receipt is hereby acknowledged. I the said BENJAMIN ROBUCK have bargained, granted sold and released and by these presents do bargain grant sell and release unto the said John Mason a tract of land containing sixty three acres (more or less) situate in the District aforeward on the north side of Jimmie's Creek, beginning on a Hickery and running north 44 E 16 Chains to a Hickery thence south 58 E 4.50 to a Willow thence north and east 17 chains to a Hickery thence N 2476.6 chains to a stake thence N 80 E 14 chains to a Hickery thence S 20 E 125 to a red oak thence S 67 W15 chains to a Spanish Oak on a branch thence the various courses of said branch to the beginning bounded on the east by Jno King's land, Northward by J. M. Reynold's, Mark Langstons & Richard Gentry lands of the West by David King's land & on the south by George Robuck's land together with all and singular the privileges and profits thereof To have and to hold the aforesaid tract of land without any manner of trouble from and the said BENJAMIN ROBUCK my Heirs and Assigns and lastly I do hereby bind myself my Heirs, executors, Administrators and assigns to warrant and forever defend the aforesaid tract of land with all and singular the privileges and profits thereunto belonging into the said John Mason his heirs and from myself my heirs etc and from all and every person what soever Witness my hand and seal this 20th day of February 1816

 hundred and fifty dollars to me paid in hand by Richard Willis of the State and District aforesaid and have granted bargained and sold by these presents do bargain sell and release unto the said Richard Willis his heirs and a tract of land containing one hundred and fourteen acres more or less situate lying and being in the District aforesaid on the north side of James Creek beginning at a at the head of a branch South 10 to 16 & chains to a 6, South 4416.2 chains fifty links to a red Oak, S. 16 chains to a Red Oak So 516.17 chains to a ash No 20 E 6 chains thence down the branch to a white oak No 748 5 chains 40 links to a Hickery No 26 E 13 chains to a Hickery No 55 S40 chains to a white Oak thence up the branch to the beginning corner. Bounded East by Samuel Floyds land south by Richard Gentrys land & by John Shimers land north by James Masons land together with all and singular the privileges and profits thereof To have and to hold the aforesaid Tract of land without any manner of trouble from the said B.
