1796 Quit Claim Union County, South Carolina

State of South Carolina, Whereas WILLIAM SMITH of Union County did on the fourth day of November in the year one thousand seven hundred and ninety five, make this last will and testament and did execute the same before David Norman and Elizabeth Littlefield Witnesses to the same WILLIAM SMITH died leaving the said Will so witnessed and therein mentioned that his last wish and desire was that the land on which he had permitted his son John to live for five or six years before his death should go to the said John and be to him forever and that the other tract of land on which he himself, lived, should go to his wife ANNE SMITH to be disposed of as she should see fit and whereas the said will is not valid for the conveyance of the said land but it is the wish of all those who are of age and are interested therein in that the wish and desire of the said WILLIAM SMITH should be carried into full execution. Now, therefore we, Nathan Langston and Catharine Langston, Bennett and Polly Langston, William and Milley Edwards, William and Elizabeth Parker, John and Nancy Smith, and William Smith and Nancy Smith, and each of us for ourselves and for our heirs respectively do hereby renounce release, and forever quit claim unto ANNE SMITH our Mother, and to her heirs and assigns forever, all and all right of right title, interest, property claim and demand of in or to the said tract of land, intended by said will to be devised to ANNE SMITH our Mother or any part thereof, which we are either of us now have or of right ought to or might have, and furthermore, we Nathan Langston and Catherine Langston, Bennett and Polly Langston, William and Milley Edwards, William and Elizabeth Parker, and William and Nancy Smith, and each of us for ourselves, and our heirs respectively do hereby renounce release and quit claim forever unto John Smith his heirs and assigns all and all manner of right title interest, property claim and demand of in or to the said premises or tract of land intended by the said will to be devised unto the said John Smith. In witness whereof we have interchangeably set our hands and seals hereunto this twenty six day of April in the year one thousand seven hundred and ninety six.
