Among the military grants issued were the following...Bailey Hooper, 640 acres...[this shows Bailey served Rev. for NC. Bailey was 7 in 1776! Land for Dad's service??]. p. 870 those of the settlers from 1800 to 1805 who settled in the western portion of the county were SAMUEL PARKER, John & Jessee Holland all of whom came from Georgia & settled on Trace Creek. A certain tract or parcel of Land containing Six hundred and forty acres by survey bearing date the 5th day of November 1823 lying in the 12th District in Weakley County on Mud Creek a branch of the middle fork of Obian River in the Seventh Section & first Range and bounded as follows to wit Beginning at a dogwood standing on the meridian line one hundred poles north of the two mile post north of the Southwest corner of the Section Running East crossing mud creek running to the right at ten poles in all three hundred poles to a black oak and Dogwood. Thence South crossing a road at 300 poles in all three hundred forty one and a third poles to a black oak thence west three hundred poles to a Spanish Oak on the Meredian line Thence north with the same crossing mud creek running to the left at 276 in all three hundred forty-one and one third poles to the beginning. With the hereditaments and appurtenances To Have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances to the said Joseph Kirkpatrick & his heirs forever. In witness whereof William Carrole Governor of the State of Tennessee hath hereunto set his hand & caused the great seal of the state to be affixed at Murfreesborough on the 20th day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty five and of the Independence of the United States the 49th Buy the Governor: Wm.
